The international jury has awarded Ramón Bilbao the Best Of prize Ramón Bilbao in the ‘innovative wine tourism experiences’ category.
30 September 2016.- Ramón Bilbao has been rewarded in the “Innovative wine tourism experiences” category for its wine tourism project which gives the visitor the chance to enjoy a virtual experience following the progress of a grape from its birth to the wine glass via a journey of unique sensations and emotions.
The ‘Best of’ prizes awarded by the Great Wine Capitals encourage innovation and excellence in the world of wine in the nine leading winemaking regions in the world. This international competition is considered by the main players in the wine industry as being the top award for business initiatives which offer quality experiences in several different categories.
The ‘Innovative wine tourism experiences’ category.
The ‘Oculus’ Virtual Reality experience is a reflection of the Ramón Bilbao winery’s commitment to technological innovation used to benefit an idea: explaining the painstaking winemaking process in Ramón Bilbao in an original and distinctive way which leaves nobody indifferent.
With this new project, Ramón Bilbao, a wine cellar with almost 100 years of history, turns to cutting edge technology which has only just arrived in our country. The innovations in Virtual Reality presented to date was based on a virtual tour of the bodega or a visit to the vineyards via 360º panoramic photos, but Ramón Bilbao is the first wine cellar to develop specific Virtual Reality content linked to the visual universe of the Rioja winery.
The award collected by Rodolfo Bastida, General Manager and Technical Director of Bodegas Ramón Bilbao, is the international recognition of the bodega’s wine tourism project to offer the visitor a new vision of the world of wine.
